Our students were enthusiastic and persistant and we are so proud of them.
CONGRATULATIONS to you all!!!
Below is the official write up from our school newsletter -
Renmark Primary hosted a spelling bee competition On Tuesday 14th August with five schools participating on the night, including Loxton, Renmark North and Renmark West with Renmark Junior Primary and Primary joining together to form two year 2/3 teams.
The event took place in the main building between 6 30pm and 8 30pm. Students were selected in teams of four, to ensure a non-threatening environment was established. This is in contrast to the famous American Spelling Bees where one child recites their word over a microphone. The Riverland teams wrote their words on whiteboards and held up their choices after a 20 second time bell was rung.
Successful Spellers who represented our schools were:
J Year 2/3s: Anna Son, Lochlan O’Brien, Hazal Siy, Maddison Holmes, Isobel Atkinson, Kira Watts, Kieara Irrgang, Angus Pankhurst and Shakira Crack .
J Year 4/5s: Ben Pankhurst, Holly O’Brien, Damon Kassebaum, Vi Vu, Paul Chandler, Dilay Baykan, Felicity Evans, Mackenzie Peters and Ashleigh Porter.
J Year 6/7s: Brock Thiele, Bronte Smith, Jarryd Vigar, Marie Albanos, Joseph Cole, Taran Trimper and Jay Turnbull.

Congratulations must go to the students who performed enthusiastically and consistently, only missing out on the top prizes by a couple of words. We are very proud of how they represented our schools!
Many thanks to Julie Raggett and Chris Humphries from the Junior Primary and Ashlyn Jones, Martine Turnbull, Grant Schwartzkopff and Lyn Bretag from the Primary School for your contributions and support at the Spelling Bee.
Also thank you to Maria Dowzard who baked an amazing spread for supper and to the Parent Group who also baked and came along on the night to organise and serve.
Everyone’s contributions to a fabulous night were very much appreciated. Thank you all.
